Inner Ear Micro Actuator for the Excitation of the Perilymph in case of Hearing Problems
|Duration:||2008 - 2012|
Aim of the project is to develop a micro system which can be implanted in order to improve hearing. For this purpose, an electromagnetic micro actuator excites via the round window membrane the perilymph of the cochlea. Possible applications are medium labyrinthine hearing loss, conductive deafness and combined labyrinthine hearing loss. The prerequisites for this project are a high degree of biocompatibility and reliability and a simple handling during surgery. The project is realised in cooperation with the Hannover Medical School.
